In Victoria, a Food Safety Supervisor is required to hold the following national unit competencies:
- SITXFSA006: Participate in safe food handling practices (Level 2); and
- SITXFSA005: Use hygienic practices for food safety (Level 1).
If you have completed the SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety (Level 1), you can upgrade your food safety skills by taking this course.
If you want to be a food safety supervisor and you have NOT completed SITXFSA005, you are advised to choose the Food Safety Supervisor Package Course.
The Food Safety Supervisor course applies to all organisations that are required by local governments to have a food safety programme. These include: restaurants, cafés, clubs and hotels; tour operators; attractions; function, event, exhibition and conference catering; educational institutions; care homes for the elderly; prisons; hospitals; the armed forces; cafeterias, kiosks, canteens and fast food outlets; residential catering; and in-flight and other transport catering.
All food handlers are covered, including cooks, chefs, head chefs, caterers, kitchen assistants, and food and beverage attendants, supervisors, managers, owners, and key stakeholders.
